Wings for an Angler
20:49 runtime

Lee Wulff proves flying and wilderness fishing fit together perfectly. We see Lee taking flying lessons in his new Piper Cub. Once he has mastered the rudder, stick, and throttle, he uses his new flying license to travel northeast to Newfoundland’s wilderness waters.

After he moors the plane and assembles a sectional, 14-ft canoe, he and his favorite cameraman, his 10-year-old son Allan, both fish for wild trout and Atlantic salmon.

Three Trout To Dream About
13:34 runtime

With a single cast, and three flies on his leader, Lee hooks and lands three prize brook trout (totaling 17 pounds), all captured after only one cast – an amazing fishing adventure. This film may have been the first fishing film ever shown on a national television network, broadcast in the early 1960s in a CBS Sports Spectacular.

Garcia Girl
21:25 runtime

Joan Salvato Wulff’s talent and versatility are showcased in this film, sponsored by the Garcia Corporation, which she represented. Joan pilots her airboat through unmarked channels in the Florida Everglades to fish for largemouth bass. We also see a montage of her adventures in other locations fishing for steelhead, tarpon, bluefin tuna, and brook trout, as well as teaching fly casting and appearing on TV in the series, American Sportsman.

The Fly Fisherman’s World
27:39 runtime

Lee takes his viewers first to Montana to fish for trout while using a six-foot fly rod; next to Labrador where he uses a similar small rod to catch Atlantic Salmon. Then on to the Florida Keys (with a different rod) to land a 130-lb tarpon and, finally, to Pinas Bay, Panama, where he hooks an athletic Pacific sailfish.

Minipi Discovery
17:52 runtime

Back in 1957, the wilderness waters of the Minipi Basin of Labrador lure Lee to scout the area in a Super Cub seaplane. When he finds virgin water that promises good fishing, he moors his plane and tries his hand at fly fishing to test his theories. His success leads him to label the basin a brook trout paradise.

To Labrador for Brook Trout
12:51 runtime

Teasing Kay Gillett (Lee’s wife at the time) as they compete for hooking and landing brook trout in the wilderness near Goose Bay, Labrador, Lee demonstrates matching dry flies to hatching mayflies. With light-hearted humor, he and his wife use floating dry flies and bottom streamers to illustrate techniques for tying the dry fly onto their terminal tackle and then catching the fish Lee calls the most beautiful of all trout.

Joan and Lee Wulff’s School of Fly Casting
51:54 runtime

The expertise behind Joan and Lee Wulff’s School of Fly Fishing on the Beaverkill River in New York state is on display in this early instructional video that begins with fishing demonstrations and an explanation of contrasting fly line designs. The camera then follows champion caster Joan Salvato Wulff as she teaches her smooth technical style with clear directions and examples—from how to practice effectively to using various types of casts in different settings. Finally, Lee demonstrates casting in rivers and open ocean where the prizes are powerful game fish.
