With Camera and Gun in Newfoundland
26:12 runtime

Hunting in the wilderness of Newfoundland offers extraordinary experiences for both Kay Gillett (Lee’s then wife) and Lee himself. Kay travels by canoe using her camera to “shoot” caribou and moose; Lee hikes the mountains to shoot a moose for its antlers and meat. Both “hunters” are successful, although Kay considers herself luckier since she was able to capture the image of a rare, naturally white bull moose.

Wings for the Hunter

Hunting birds with shotguns in vastly different locations is easy to achieve as Lee pilots a Piper Tripacer plane around North America. His adventures begin on Prince Edward Island, as his companion Chet advances the training of his two pointers in a quest for Hungarian partridge. Lee then flies his two young sons, Allan and Barry, to hunt grouse in Vermont and, later, in December, takes the boys along as he wings into Mexico so the three can hunt goose, quail and doves.

Western Newfoundland

Relax and absorb the peace and solitude that permeates western Newfoundland as viewers travel along with Joan and Lee and Joan’s two sons as they drive around the island on a family RV vacation. They fish for mackerel and trout, explore shipwrecks and secret fishing spots, build a homemade shelter and visit urban and rural communities.

The Silent Menace
19:54 runtime

Newfoundland, Canada had long suffered from a devastating tuberculosis epidemic. So, in 1945, the Newfoundland Tuberculosis Association trusted and hired Lee to create and produce a dramatic, informative film that showed and explained the realities of the disease, how it spreads and how to mitigate and even stop its severity. This film is credited with having a vital and important impact on ending the epidemic and was the first film produced in Newfoundland that employed all Newfoundland actors and local medical personnel.
