Newfoundland Tuna
16:36 runtime

Witness the first time Lee Wulff and champion caster Joan Salvato get to know one another. Lee wants a segment for ABC’s “American Sportsman” television program in which a woman catches a giant bluefin tuna in Newfoundland’s Conception Bay. Lee also wants to demonstrate how even someone new to big game fishing can catch a tuna weighing more than 500 lbs. With his expert instruction and Joan’s excellent angling skills, they achieve success even greater than hoped for. This is when Joan and Lee begin to fall in love — they were married a year after filming this program.

Nicaragua Tarpon with Jack Nicklaus
12:32 runtime

Champion golfer Jack Nicklaus, then 27-years-old, and Lee ride a small boat as they fish for, and land a large tarpon in the San Juan River that flows out of Lake Nicaragua. During the film, Jack and Lee watch two young native men, fishing with only primitive hand-thrown tackle, catch and land a tarpon using their tried-and-true old gear.

World Record Marlin
17:26 runtime

This film is the visual record of Lee Wulff fishing the Humbolt Current off Salinas, Ecuador, where he hooks and lands a world-record 148-lb striped marlin using a 12 pound-test leader tippet and a 9 ft, 5 oz fly rod equipped with a “no drag” fly reel. This world record stood for many years, primarily because very few people wanted to use such light tackle while battling such large, strong fish.

Panama Sailfish
15:05 runtime

Capturing and landing a 100 lb Pacific sailfish using only standard fly fishing tackle as approved by the Federation of Fly Fishers is a feat few anglers would attempt. But Lee travels to Pinas Bay, Panama to do precisely that. His battle with such a sailfish is a clear demonstration of his expert and well-honed skills.

Giant Tuna, Small Boat
27:44 runtime

Lee fishes for giant blue fin tuna from a 16-foot Boston whaler in the coastal waters of Newfoundland’s Notre Dame Bay. Here he lands a 650-lb bluefin on 80-lb test line before the small boat sails into a storm far offshore.

To Ecuador for Marlin
27:24 runtime

Joan and Lee Wulff journey to Ecuador to plum the depths of the Humbolt Current for striped marlin. Joan hooks and plays a striped marlin that makes 15 consecutive jumps in a single run, and then Lee hooks a big black marlin on his light tackle.

Where the Biggest Bluefins Swim
22:42 runtime

This film takes viewers to the Strait of Canso in the Province of Nova Scotia where Lee Wulff, then 77-years-old, catches a 960 lb bluefin tuna on 130-lb test line before trying for a new world record on 80-lb test.
